From the ever vigilant Carolyn Seitz

So far today, the fire has grown from about 85,000 acres this morning to 105,000 this afternoon, and the expectation is that it will continue to grow.  While most of that growth this very minute is occurring on the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains, Altadena is not out of harm’s way.

The Fire Department says that the Mandatory Evacuation Order was Lifted for Residents – but at this moment, it appears that it only applies to properties WEST of FAIR OAKS to the Arroyo Seco.

Everything EAST of FAIR OAKS and NORTH of LOMA ALTA is either still under a Mandatory Evacuation Order, or has been put back in a Mandatory Evacuation Order zone.

We are all very sorry for the inconvenience and hardship many of you are experiencing, but request your cooperation.

Please stay out of the area NORTH of Loma Altadena, EAST of Fair Oaks, until the Fire Department determines that it is safe for all of your to return.

Give them the best opportunity to do their work.  They’re doing an outstanding job.

I just saw a fire fighter in full turnouts walk past my office window.  Turns out there is a fire on the roof of the post office on Lake Avenue, right next door!

Stay safe . . .

Carolyn
