Michele McClowry:

Ms McClowry:

I just want to say “thank you” again for visiting the Nia Charter Educational Center yesterday, to review our concerns, actually the facts, with them.

Our neighborhood and, in fact, neighbors throughout Altadena stand ready to assist the students of this district.

I do want to point out one thing, though. I of course am not privy to your conversations with Nia yesterday, but want to point out a factual error in their statements to PasadenaNow in the article that appeared yesterday.

While the paper reported that the Dean of Students Khafra Bradley had said, “
We have never once run into a problem with students transferring,” the Duarte School District would totally disagree with them on that “fact.”

As we said in our initial letter to you, Duarte had two students come to them from Nia, and since Nia was not accredited, the students lost all credit for their courses at Nia when they transferred to Duarte.

If you like, I can put you in touch with the administrator at Duarte who handled that transfer.

We look forward to working with the PUSD on properly educating our children through accredited schools.
